Claremont Avenue Burger King Celebrates Grand Reopening After Renovation
ASHLAND — A longtime Ashland fast-food stop officially marked a new chapter Thursday as Burger King on Claremont Avenue celebrated its grand reopening with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
The Ashland Area Chamber of Commerce helped host the celebration at the Burger King located at 910 Claremont Ave. on Thursday, May 21, at 4 p.m., following several months of construction and improvements to the restaurant.
Chamber President Amy Daubenspeck welcomed community members, city leaders and Burger King representatives to the event, noting that the Claremont Avenue location has long been a familiar part of Ashland.
“This Burger King has been a staple in our community,” Daubenspeck said, adding that several loyal customers, including members of her own family, visit the restaurant regularly.
Ashland Mayor Matt Miller also praised the restaurant’s updated look, saying the building “looks magnificent” following the remodel. Miller said the renovation fits into a larger pattern of improvements happening around the city.
“It is a wonderful thing that at a time when just about every element of our city is getting a facelift or a remodel or an upgrade, so too is the Burger King right here,” Miller said.
The mayor also joked that many of his own visits come late at night after city council meetings, when he pulls through the drive-thru for “two junior Whoppers with no onion and extra cheese.”
Representatives from Carrols, the company connected with the restaurant, said the Ashland location now reflects Burger King’s updated modern image. Regional Director Walter Markley said Burger King has been working to refresh older restaurants and bring a new look to locations across the country.
Markley said the Ashland location is part of that modernized effort, with updated branding, a refreshed interior and a new design intended to carry the company into the next decade.
District Manager Artha also praised the local team for handling the shutdown, construction process and reopening, saying the crew did an “outstanding job” getting the restaurant ready for customers again.
Much of the afternoon’s praise centered on longtime General Manager Mindy Sheriff, who said she has worked at the Claremont Avenue Burger King for nearly 34 years.
Sheriff said the Ashland community has played a major role in the restaurant’s success, with many familiar faces returning day after day.
“I’m just glad this community still comes in here and brings in their business,” Sheriff said.
Following the remarks, guests headed outside for the official ribbon cutting.
The celebration ended on a lighthearted note as those gathered sang “Happy Birthday” to Sheriff.
The renovated Burger King is now open for customers to stop in, tour the refreshed space and enjoy the updated restaurant on Claremont Avenue.
