Jennifer Lyons to Hold Book Signing at Grandpa’s Cheesebarn During Strawberry Feast

ASHLAND — June is a busy and exciting time in Ashland County, with community events filling the calendar and families looking for fun ways to enjoy the start of summer.

One upcoming event will combine local authorship, children’s books and a sweet summer tradition.

Local author Jennifer Lyons will be signing books at Grandpa’s Cheesebarn during the 26th annual Strawberry Feast on Saturday, June 27, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The event will give families the opportunity to meet Lyons, bring previously purchased books for signing and take part in a fun celebration of summer reading. Three of Lyons’ books, which have recently been recreated in a 6-by-9-inch size, will be available at the book signing. Jennifer Lyons’ books are an imprint of Ashland County Pictures.

Over the past several years, children around Ashland County have received Lyons’ books through several community events, including a book reading at Hillsdale, a book giveaway at the LifeWise Easter egg hunt and other book giveaways by the author.

Lyons’ debut book, Freedom Frog, shares a message about overcoming fear. The book could also serve as a meaningful gift as the nation prepares to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States.

Another title, Crystal Clear Answer to Prayer, is a beautifully illustrated story about a little girl’s answer to prayer for a turtle. Based on a true story, the book is designed to inspire and encourage young girls in their faith.

Lyons’ book Stinky Bowfinky And His Dirty Dog Dew tells a story about entertaining angels unaware. Paperback and hardcover copies are currently available for purchase at Grandpa’s Cheesebarn.

Families who already have books, posters, bookmarks, postcards or other items created by Jennifer Lyons are encouraged to bring them to the signing.

“I am so excited for this event,” Lyons said. “I would love to see the children I met at book readings and others I have not yet met. Also, it will be interesting to see what old books show up for the book signing.”

Children attending the event will be able to select their own favorite colors for the book signing. Coloring pages from current books, along with pages from stories that have not yet been published in book form, will also be available.

The public is invited to stop by Grandpa’s Cheesebarn on Saturday, June 27, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. for coloring, book signing and family-friendly fun during the Strawberry Feast.
