Navy Veteran Cody Moistner Joins Ashland Police Division
ASHLAND — The Ashland Police Division has welcomed a 12-year United States Navy veteran to its ranks, bringing years of military law enforcement experience to the department.
Ashland Mayor Matt Miller officially swore in Cody Moistner as the Police Division’s newest officer. Moistner was surrounded by loved ones and members of his new Ashland Police Division family during the ceremony.
Moistner, 35, served 12 years in the Navy. In his military career, he worked as a master-at-arms, the Navy’s military police and security specialty.
Moistner attained the rank of petty officer first class, an E-6 rank commonly identified within his specialty as MA1.
He completed his Navy service in August 2025 and is now continuing his commitment to public service through a career in civilian law enforcement.
Ashland Police Chief Curt Dorsey said Moistner’s addition leaves the division one officer short of being fully staffed. The department has approximately 33 officers and continues searching for one additional officer.
